I built BYOPDF because my eyes gave out.
I stare at a screen all day for work. By evening my eyes are red, dry, and done. No TV, no scrolling, nothing. And the shortform stuff I did watch was quietly wrecking my focus and my memory.
Audio was the only way back. It let me rest my eyes and rebuild my attention span at the same time. I'd always struggled to sit and read, so I felt a little left behind whenever friends quoted some author. Now I just listen: books, research papers, long articles, the occasional ahem. No judgment, no screen, no friction.
